audible 3
CD
58mins

First audible 3 CD to be made widely available, after 3 CDR releases.
The CD originated from a live performance and is made through improvisation with electronic instruments-sampler, drum machine and bass triggered synth. Loosely organised sounds and musical processes serve as starting points. In producing this collection audible 3 have tried to retain a sense of the open-ended exploration that drives their work. See audible 3 website.

Baby Planet Nucleii
CD

The audio signals from the group are passed thru a series of delay & panning effects, creating a homogenous, sweeping drone of regenerating sound that becomes the foundation for the piece. Sometimes the process dominates with dense, moving walls of audio or subsides to a faint horizon of haze while a more organic clatter or concrete mutation takes over for a while. See audible 3 website.

Woodenhead Soundtrack
CD
50 mins

Features music + dialog from Florian Habichts' digital feature film. Vocals by Warwick Broadhead, Mardi Potter + Steve Abel. Includes Steve Abel's "Hospice for Destitute Lovers" + Killer Ray's "Hi De Hi De Ho". Most of the music was created from samples of accordian + trumpet, also drums. Beautiful cello was performed + composed by Edward Hanfling. Florian wrote the lyrics, which were sourced from fairy tales, in fact the film is a musical fairy tale. See Pictures For Anna website.

Never Look Up
CDR
30 mins

Re-fashioned Lopdell House sound installation into cd form. Compact & lucid, with a relaxed exploratory feel and some sublime layered moments - machine textures, radio phantoms, bushscapes, domestic interiors, abstract digital cascades & intimate percussion mix and mingle. Successfully avoids the rarified tone that too often undermines this sort of work.* [more]. See Is Land website.

Music in the world of...

30 mins

First collection of sampler & environmental sound compositions.Includes "familiar/unfamiliar", a studio version of a low-tech musique concrete performance at Soundculture '99. Some concise sample & ambient percussion studies round out an engaging listen.*

Drumsmachine
CDR
40 mins

Duo with J.Kennedy. Drum kits, electronic percussion, samples and debris. An organic rhythm work that is emphatically "post-techno". From short beaty improvisations to larger scale drum sagas, these machine/human dialogues suggest a side-step away from some of the dead-ends of drum-based music. A surprisingly unfrequented zone of inquiry.*

Sone, The Dense Sense
CD
60 mins

Duo with Peter O'Donoghue (of Grit Salute, Lushburger), album in 2 parts.
Firstly songs..."the dense in the title seems ironic as the music is gratifyingly sparse. Sone proving themselves adroit in their use of space in the songs" Secondly, material recorded for video works..."a more experimental bent than the first part. Warm rhythmic journeys with variations, delicate + lean, at times assertive + frantic."

Sudersuk, Feather
CD
65 mins

3-piece with Tabatha Forbes + Trevor King. Energetic, textural sound rock. Cyclic rhythms, sound vocals, loose structures, subtle undercurrent changes, always emerging, sometimes improvising. Feather includes bronze vinyl packaging in clear pouch + 4 bonus tracks from the Fur cassette release. Fur cassette (7 songs), with fun fur cover, hand made labels.

Sudersuk, Transient Response
CDR
45 mins

Later phase of the groups life. Transient Response #1 combines field recordings and outdoor vocal takes with spacious drums & percussion. One track explores a T.S Elliot poem. Rhythmic samples are used. Poppy in some places. Transient Response #2 is a collaborative work recorded live beside railway tracks in Newmarket, Auckland (NZ)... with Dean Roberts, playing cello + percussion.

*Album notes, J Kennedy.
